Design that inspires
In proclaiming grey as one of its trending colours for the year 2021, Pantone noted that it is a colour that encourages ‘feelings of composure, steadiness and resilience’ being, on the one hand, very neutral and combining well with other colours, whilst signalling, on the other, solid dependability and functionality. This is a thesis well illustrated by the pieces created by the French designer Frédérick Gautier for his FCK – OP BETON T X 100 collection, some of which are being offered by Serax as ‘FCK Tableware’. With his penchant for architectural forms, Gautier is echoing here the style of Brutalism in a remarkable way through the use of rough surfaces and robust cement, the sobriety of which is offset the spectacular shapes chosen. The expanded collection also includes cups and plates. All the concrete vessels are enameled on the inside wherever necessary to make them food-safe.
