The fondue as a communicative and culinary spectacle was a subject of fascination for Herbert Seibel, the founder of the Mono brand, as early as the 1960s when he developed the first Mono fondue sets. Two generations and fifty years later, Mono is reviving the tradition. The Mono fondue is the work of designer Marc Braun, from whose Berlin studio the re-edition of the Mono Ring flatware or cutlery set originated in 2018. Here he has reconciled robustness with lightness in a remarkable way. The solid cast-iron enamelled pot appears to float above the tabletop, securely held by a fine wire structure. The heat conduction and retention of the cast-iron pot are ideal for cheese fondue as well as fondue bourguignonne (with oil) and fondue chinoise (with broth). When meat is being cooked, a spatter ring made from stainless steel is inserted into the edge of the pot. The enamel interior of the pot is scratchproof and makes it easier to clean. Fondue forks to go with the set can be found in both the Mono A and Mono Ring series.
