Welcome to Heimtextil
In its anniversary year Heimtextil 2020 presents international brand producers of home and contract textiles and a framework programme with events and special shows. TOP FAIR spoke to Olaf Schmidt, Vice President Textiles & Textile Technologies at Messe Frankfurt.
: The Trend Space in Hall 3.0 with its overarching theme of “Where I Belong” is devoted to the complex question of identity. What’s your approach here?
Our trend researchers have explored gender, cultural diversity, tolerance and curiosity. WHERE I BELONG shows that there is no one lifestyle concept that fits all. Our spectacular show in
Hall 3.0 presents five themed worlds – staged with more than 1,000 products from our exhibitors.
: Heimtextil and Trend Council are placing more and more importance on sustainability. What’s involved?
Together with our Trend Council we have created a material manifesto. We aim to achieve a minimal ecological footprint
with an intelligent choice of materials. In other words, wherever possible, we will use alternative, sustainable materials.
: This year, Heimtextil is celebrating its 50th anniversary – that’s quite a milestone for a trade fair. What form will those celebrations take at Heimtextil 2020?
We are presenting design classics from the past 50 years in a showcase area in Hall 9.0, inviting our visitors to embark on a journey of discovery through the past five decades of Heimtextil history. That’s certainly something to look forward to.
: What other events can visitors expect?
Sleep once again is at the forefront. The “Sleep! The Future Forum” in the foyer of Hall 11.0 offers the latest findings from science, research and industry. Interior design and furnishing
is another area of special focus. Under the heading ”Interior.Architecture.Hospitality” we are inviting interior designers, architects and hospitality experts to a series of lectures, tours
and networking events in Hall 4.2.
