Young, daring and provocative. Once again, Ambiente’s Talents programme gives next-gen designers a platform for presenting their work at the world’s largest trade fair for consumer goods.

Each year, the successful Talents programme showcases the skills of international young designers, graduates and labels in Frankfurt and gives them the opportunity to network with manufacturers, retailers and the international design scene. Messe Frankfurt supports them with free exhibition space, advice and publicity.

For the 21 Talents in the Living area of Hall 8.0 it’s all about rethinking lifestyles and consumption. In every case, these talented international designers are intent on creating enjoyment. They are showing designs for contemporary living, some highly conceptual, others very concrete. This year, the participants come from all over the world, including Brazil, Germany, the UK, Japan, Italy, Portugal, the Czech Republic, India, Hong Kong and the USA.

Strong conceptual approaches and market-ready product ideas are being presented by young design offices, start-ups and universities. Three participants in the German Design Graduates (GDG) initiative, namely Shanmei Yao (Karlsruhe University), Marie Radke (Berlin University of the Arts) and Jonna Breitenhuber (also Berlin UA), have been accepted as Talents this year. The initiative was launched in 2019 with the aim of encouraging diversity in the German higher education landscape. It honours the best graduates each year from twelve of the most prestigious institutions in the field of product and industrial design.
